The new interface apart from not being able to switch between mobile and desktop view, also lacked the ability to attach files while sending mails, Online reading of PDF files without having to download them. Making it more like a curse than a blessing to mobile/opera mini users.
How Then Do I Access The New Gmail
Just like facebook mobile and desktop view which requires you to simply type Facebook.com/home.php instead of facebook.com directly. The magic is also in the address. To do this:

2. Sign in to your account,

Wow that was Awesome. even that of Facebook was quick too. Have been using One browser that sucks my battery because of 3g to access fb PC version. Now I think my lappi will go on vocation. hurray

Not including the basic HTML version for gmail mobile users would probably be a mistake in the part of Google.
